I say, I hear...

It's been a while since I posted any "I hear, I say" items, so in case you've forgotten or not seenit before, they are the, often bizarre, things I hear my children or myself say in the course of a regular day.

Here are a few gems of late...

Miss A after cleaning her teeth -
"Mummy, can you hear the smell of my teeth?".
uuummmmm??

Miss A - talking about why Henry the Octopus would be great at helping Santa deliver presents...
"He'd be very good at it Mummy because he has eight testicles."

Not so sure that would help him with the presents...
(but given this statement aren't you glad I chose to go with a pic related to the first quote).

Miss L giving me a lesson on how to make a plasticene plane.
Miss L - "Then you put a bit on the front to be the wokka."
Me - "What's a wokka honey?"
Miss L - "You know the thing that goes wokka, wokka, wokka." Said as she spins her hand around in a circle.
Me - "Oh you mean the propellor!"
Miss L (looking at me as though I am possibly the most stupid person on earth) - "Yeah".

And one from a while ago in a discussion with Miss L where we were trying to remember the names of the seven dwarfs...
"and then there's saddish Mum"
Me - "I think you mean Grumpy honey..."

I say, I hear

Sometimes the comments from small children stop you in your tracks, even when they don't intend them to.

One thing the girls love to do, when we brave a trip to a local mega-huge shopping centre, is look at all the kittens and puppies in the pet shop window.

I picked Miss L up so she could better see the animals only to have her exclaim in a very loud and excited voice;
"Oh Daddy look at the titties!"

I quickly said "kitties daddy, kitties." to the stunned and gobsmacked man looking at me, unsure of where to rest his gaze!

It confused him more because we never call kittens kitties and it is only in moments of great excitement that she confuses her K's and T's now.

Priceless.

I say, I hear

It's not been so much about what I have been saying this week as what I have been hearing - there have been a few corkers, often relating to height.

I hear...

When I grow up if I would be as tall as Daddy I would be a giant! But that's OK, girls are allowed to be giants too.

Mum why do you wear a bra on your ankle to basketball?
I think you mean 'brace' honey!

Me: On Tuesday Daddy doesn't have to go to work because a horse race called the Melbourne Cup is on, so he gets the day off.

L: Can I ride one of the horses too?

Me: Oh no honey we don't ride the horses, we get to watch the race.

L: Just Daddy then.

(She seems not to have noticed her dad is 195cm tall (6 feet, 5 inches!) - hardly jockey material.

The man of the house made a quick trip to Surfers Paradise this week (Yes poor him having to swim in the warmth and get room service!). This one was on his return.

Dad did you see lots of queens in Queensland?

Mum after quiet time, will there be loud time??

I say...

All the usual things really;

G don't put your toe in your eye ( but oh to have the flexibility to do that!)

Don't lick the Bluetack honey.

Ah no, it's not OK to play with the cymbals during quiet time.

I say, I hear

Pic courtesy of here.
I say...
Don't put your fork near your eye...

Stop rubbing food in your hair honey...

Please don't put your drink bottle in your ear...

I hear...
Old Mother Hubbard went to the cupboard to get her poor froggy a bone...

Round and round the garden like a teddy bear,
A one step,
A two step,
A tickly underwear.

Mum does Bob the Builder wear pyjama's?
And does he go to bed with a lady?

Life with two young children and a toddler, what can I say.
Feel free to share the wise words heard or spoken in your home.
