Footloose and fancy free

I was sorting some photo's today and found this one I took, of myself, when I had a few hours alone in the city a few months back.

Any fulltime parent will tell you that there is a liberating feeling you get when you go anywhere without the full complement of children in tow.
There's a certain freedom - not having to prepare snacks and drinks to take, not having to mentally recall where the nearest toilet is at any time, being able to cross the road freely and not issuing instructions all the time.

I caught the train to the city, walked along the Yarra on a sunny day, watched the people and enjoyed being out and about in this great city I call home.

What makes you feel liberated??

One word - SEWJOURN.

That's my little slice of liberation. Looking forward to seeing you there.

I love these kind of days as well, but they don't happen very often - I need to 'book' myself into for one soon as I think as mums it is so important to get time to ourselves every now and again - it's amazing how just a few hours to ourselves can completely recharge our batteries (and our patience levels!)

Hmmm ... using a bathroom without small people either following you, barging in looking for adjudication or serenading you with "Mu-um, Mu-um, Mu-um".
Yep, it's the small things.

You look so happy! This is really sad, but I feel liberated after a good de-clutter, a cupboard, a room, the garage... Just so good!

Going for a walk - sans kids, and NO PRAM!!! :) These moments probably could happen more often, but on the weekends, I feel like Hubby needs a little space to himself too, so we take turns.

Yep - child free moments, fresh crisp linen on the bed, a new idea & running with it, a cup of tea in those first moments of quiet ... or a favourite is a glass of cheeky rose sitting by a certain river with a pink orange sky setting on sun-kissed skin ... yep ... small stuff really but means the world hey ...
