Time flies

OK so I know it's cliche but where has the last six months gone??

That's right - this little bundle of loveliness is six months old today. (Well as it's after midnight now I guess technically it's as of yesterday!)

She truly brings us nothing but joy.

She is a calm and easy-going baby who smiles and belly laughs far more than she cries.

She sleeps in her cot, in the pram, on our shoulder, wherever we need her to; all without making a fuss.

She laughs when her sisters make funny noises, which makes their day.

They love her a lot - almost to within an inch of her life at times.

And to think we worried about whether we'd get a difficult baby after having very easy-going twins first time around.

We feel very lucky to have been blessed with her.
To use some of her sister's vocabulary "she's a ripper!"

On another note, here are pics of her sisters one month older than she is now.

So let's settle it once and for all - who do you think she looks more like?

(Sorry about the soft-focus, the flash was startling her!)

Spots before my eyes

Anyone who has seen much of my sewing will know that I am mad for fabric with spots and dots of all shapes and sizes (stay tuned on that one for my new swimming-lessons bag!!).

But the one kind of spot I am not keen on seeing is the one called chicken pox, which is what is currently keeping us quarantined at home.

(Just included this pic because it is my all-time fave of me with the little miss, despite my messy hair - look at those chubby thighs!)

Still there's plenty to do on a hot Melbourne day even when you can't leave home and paddling is always top of our list (don't worry, we collect rainwater from our roof in large barrels for the purpose of paddling for those worried about water restrictions).

The little one seems to not be enjoying it as much as the other two - but it will grow on her I'm sure.

And this just because I never could go past a 'frilly' knickers shot!

Catching up...

I feel like I entered this new year chasing my tail a bit.

I should have included in the 2009 pledges a vow to update my blog more, I will be trying to.

With road trips for Christmas, a break down the coast then a week-long visit from one of my lovely nieces I've neglected my poor blog a bit.
So I decided to give it a new look to start the new year, what do you think?

Little surfer girls

Happy New Year - 2009 - wow!

We've been enjoying some sun and surf and have discovered that since last summer our sand-bunny has turned into a mad surfer girl.

Subsequently I can't get that Beach Boys song "Little surfer girl" out of my head - it's probably stuck in yours too now.

We've been picnicing with family,

learning to toast marshmallows on the fire,

driving off into the distance in a sand car,

playing on the beach with dad

and of course tackling the waves.

I took a break from the sewing machine for a good ten days (possibly a record except when giving birth), and am now deciding what to tackle next.

A bundle of new Oliver + S and Indygo Junction patterns from here has got my mind ticking over again.

I'll be back with a list of things to try/do for the year to come - hopefully you'll join me on a few.

Here's hoping 2009 is a good one for you all.
