My Creative Space

It's probably pretty easy to guess what I am working on at the moment.

Yep, a nativity set.

I want to have something that will last a long time that the girls will remember when they are older.

The plan is to add to it each year - an animal here and there maybe a shepherd or two.

These are the kings - taken a couple of nights ago - I'm pleased to say they now all have beards/hair and crowns.

This is my first time playing along with My Creative Space.
There are lots more folk getting creative at Kirsty's place. Check them out.

I can't wait to see them as they grow. What a great idea and once the girls are older they can even help create their own additions.

How wonderful. I hope to do this one day. I really wanted a nativity for the kids to play with last year and bought a Little People one, which gets dragged out all the time. But a handmade one would be so precious. Where do you get your 'parts' from?

Lovely idea Karen, look forward to seeing it as it develops! I think to get my thinking cap on for what I'm going to make this year, I made our advent calender last year

Karen, those are lovely. I really like the stitching on the edge of the cloaks. A handmade nativity set that you add to year by year is a wonderful idea!

I also think this is fantastic.
Mum often made nativity sets with us each year - I remember one made with wallpaper offcuts for bodies and polystyrene balls for heads, and setting it up in a brick fireplace as the stable.
I'd love to do one of these for my family.
Can you do some more posts about this as you go with some info on what you use etc?

It's so nice to see someone else making a beautiful hand made nativity. I made one for my friend last year and with much strength gave it to her too. This year I'm making one for myself.

What a gorgeous idea Karen. I love that you have taken the pressure off making it complete this year by planning to add to it each year. It will also be a lovely thing to look forward to and one the girls may be able to help with as they get older.
