Small offerings

A few lovely ladies I know have recently given birth to little girls, having previously only had boys in their families.

I wanted to make a small and very simple gift for them to welcome these new arrivals, so I got a couple of little Bonds long sleeved tops and added an applique, then made up a matching bib.

A few of the EB girls - Ingrid and Corrie have been making bibs and they were so sweet I thought I'd give it a go.

These bibs are not as practical as those made by Ingrid with the wipe-clean finish, they are just two pieces of cotton (pink with white dots on the back) with some ric rack on the front. I was going for more of a 'going out' bib for dribble rather than a feeding bib kind of look!

I used a very simple pattern I found ages ago on the Nested blog and the fabric shown here is Japanese, a piece given to me by Corrie when we met up. (Similar fabric is available in her Retro Mummy shop.)

Unfortunately I forgot to take a pic of the other set - it was white with a heart applique in coloured heart fabric and matching bib, with of course the pink dotty fabric on the back.

Awww what an adorable set! I planned on making bibs and appliqué singlets and tops but didn't get around to it. Looking forward to getting some sewing time soon, am missing it terribly!
