I've been doing a list of gifts to make for Christmas and had wanted to try my hand at a pencil roll as they suit both sexes and a variety of ages.
So last night I used a combination of this tutorial and these flickr pics to make one up, with a few modifications of my own thrown in.
It was surprisingly simple and I'm pretty happy with the result, so I'll be making more of these for sure.
I've since found out that the gorgeous one at Pink Chalk Studio has been included in this book. Yet another reason why I must get myself a copy.
Please excuse the rather scrappy looking coloured pencils - they're all I had around the house, and I couldn't even find a sharpener to make them more presentable!

This looks fantastic! Love the colour combo too, very cute! Lovely work. :)
Ooooh! I likey likey! Great job and yes, excellent fabric/colour combo!
Looks great Novy, they are easy to make and make great gift, aren't they?
Great colours. Such a different gift to make for all ages, another item to add to my mustmake list.
That looks great! I am planning on making some for my boys for part of their christmas present. Think I might make a few of just the rolls and then one of the notepad ones too for each of them (anything to entice them to stop dropping the pencils and textas on the floor!)
How pretty! I love pretty and practical items - especially as gifts. Will have to add these to my to-sew list.
I love the colour combo too, I am using the spots also. I love this idea and yes what great last minute present ideas for all ages!
